Master Of Materials
Rado truly earned its title as the “Master of Materials” in the 1980s, designing some of the world’s most durable and luxurious watches. In 1983, they launched the Rado Anatom, a watch crafted to fit naturally against the wrist for exceptional comfort—a revolutionary design at the time.
It also featured the first cylindrical sapphire crystal, setting a new standard in watchmaking. The response was immediate and enthusiastic. To celebrate the Anatom’s launch in New York, the legendary artist Andy Warhol created a one-of-a-kind painting, which became one of the last works he ever produced.

The Hardest Watch In the World
Rado was the first to invent scratch-resistant technology with the DiaStar 1 watch. While this is common today, many still credit Rado for producing some of the best scratch-resistant watches today.
What makes the DiaStar watch even more memorable is that it is made with sapphire and diamonds and has an ultra Swiss quartz movement. The watch has a hardness factor of 10 000 Vickers, which is why it is called a V10K. Diamonds are the hardest substance on earth, which is why it is the only material with this rating. This innovation put them in the Guinness world record books
